Auto repair in the United States is split between independent shops, dealership service departments and national chains. Independents handle most routine work (oil changes, brakes, tune-ups, check-engine diagnostics) at lower labor rates and often specialize in one make or in imports; dealers keep factory tools, software and warranty authority; chains sell speed and standard pricing on maintenance items. Most shops charge a diagnostic fee, credited toward the repair if you go ahead, and quote parts and labor separately. Certification matters: look for ASE-certified technicians and, in many states, a state repair license posted at the counter. Written estimates are required by law in most states before work begins, and you are entitled to your old parts if you ask.

The business lists hours on 5 days of the week. Typical hours are 8 am–5 pm. It is closed on Saturday, Sunday. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. You can reach 11th Street Garage at (217) 679-7531; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions.

Customers rate it 4.8 out of 5 on Google across 119 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded auto repair shops in Springfield.

Springfield is in Illinois, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Springfield follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

My car was sluggish and ready to die. I brought it into 11th Street Garage. Turned out it was the battery which I had gotten at a battery store and was under warranty. DJ put a battery in so I could get to the location. I can’t thank them enough for their honesty and not leaving me stranded. Thank you again to DJ and Topher for their help.

First I had them work on my catalytic converters and they did an awesome job. Add it back and 1 day and it ran great. He told me everything that was wrong with my car. That I need to get fixed after that. So I took it back in within a few weeks and he did my timing chain. And course, it's a big job. It took not as long as I thought considerand how busy they were and the job they had to do on my car,the car feels like it's brand new and just came off the lot they did an awesome job. He's a friendly guy. He's very informative and I will always take my car back there. Especially on big jobs. Thank you DJ. And it wasn't that expensive compared to other places.

I was driving through town with my 5yo and dog when my truck dropped the driveshaft. DJ was so accommodating getting me in and working on my truck when he was clearly busy and probably booked a few weeks out. I cannot express how grateful I am to everyone at the shop for getting me back on the road.

This review is long overdue, as we have been coming to 11th Street for a couple years now. DJ is awesome. The shop always takes care of us in a timely manner gives us the best work at very reasonable prices. My son is rough on his older, used cars and seems to be there often for one reason on another. DJ is honest, gives us the best prices in town, and does a great job (and guarantees his work!). I'm thankful that I've never felt like he's put pressure on us to get repairs we don't really need-- even when it comes to my knuckle head son 😉. I'm writing this review in the shop, because I am so grateful for this team! I called DJ 10 minutes ago when my wheel started shaking and he wanted to see what he could do to help. He took a look at my car right away. Having a reliable honest mechanic is essential, but knowing he takes care of my boy too is priceless.

Hey friends!! If you are ever in need of a great mechanic, I HIGHLY recommend 11th Street Garage!!! I had to take my truck in for some work and the guys at this shop were amazing! Honest, reliable, informative, reasonably priced and don't cut corners!! From the first conversation I had with them to when I picked up my truck, they made me feel comfortable about the job they were gonna do and best of all, not one time did they treat me "less than" or try to take advantage of me because I'm a woman! You all know that stereotype exists!! Their shop is CLEAN and they took the time to clean under the hood too! I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience and I would most definitely go back for any mechanical work needed in the future!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH GUYS!!! I was beaming all the way home during my drive!!!!
